A small Chengdu scene that taught me more about Breakfast Bao Windows than another ranked list.
I wasn't looking for a system. I was hungry / late / tired — the usual reasons residents actually make decisions.
The short version still needs context: defaults beat novelty, and near beats famous when you live here.
What I kept
- One repeatable option close to real life
- A backup that works in rain
- A refusal to turn every outing into content
What I dropped
The idea that I had to 'do it properly' every time. Properly is how people burn out in month two.
If you're settling in Chengdu, build the boring version first. Spectacle can visit on weekends.
If a habit only works on perfect Saturdays, it isn't a habit.
Try the small version this week. Then keep it long enough to become automatic.
